Do you care about gaming achievements?
Metal Jesus Rocks
I love them… it’s fun to dig into parts of a game that I might skip over if there wasn’t some weird achievement to collect. And yes, I wish Nintendo had something similar.

If I truly love a game (Ghost Of Tsushima, Burnout Paradise, Final Fantasy VII Remake
to name a few) then I’ll go for the plat, otherwise I’ll get whatever trophies I can during a normal playthrough.

I was never one for collecting achievements on 360, but one will always stick in my mind because it made me laugh so hard. During a fun multiplayer match in Front Lines: Fuel Of War I got the ‘noob’ achievement – die accidentally ten times. The kicker? Zero points.

Always enjoyed them… then I rented Avatar: The Burning Earth out for the easy 1,000G. I’ve felt dirty ever since!

It depends on the implementation. I like them for progress tracking, and also if they encourage me to explore a part of a game’s mechanics I might have missed. Online achievements/trophies can get in the bin though, as they depend on multiplayer servers staying active.

Not fussed with them. I am here to enjoy games. Not chasing trophies.

No studio was ever as good at them as Bizarre Creations, Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars games especially. ‘Pacifism’ was such a genius achievement it became an actual mode in GW2.
Chris Michael
Never bothered trying to get them but always had a look to see what they were when they popped up.

I used to do the whole ‘achievement hunter’ thing, but I’ve found that it can make things a little stressful and take away from the underlying enjoyment. I now feel like it’s another modern gaming feature that made things worse. Older titles are a lot more chill.

If I could I would disable them! You can spend hours chasing them and end up taking the fun out of the game for yourself.
