BARGAIN HUNT
Your guide to the rising world of retro prices
THE COVER STAR DREAMCAST
Sega’s console has risen in price over the last few years. Finding a nice, boxed PAL version is becoming much harder and will set you back £160. You can get a used boxed one for £100, while a loose console can be picked up for £65.
COMANCHE: MAXIMUM OVERKILL
While a great condition boxed copy that had all the extra paperwork sold for £33 recently, you should be able to grab a decent boxed
one for under £25.
URIDIUM
Andrew Braybrook’s C64 hit has a few different versions to look for. A floppy-disk copy will cost over £60, while cassette tapes start at £15 and can reach £20.
POWER STRIKE
This classic Compile shooter is a popular choice with good condition boxed copies, complete with the manual going for over £70. Used ones go for over £40, while loose carts sell for £15.
JAMES POND 2: CODENAME ROBOCOD
This one is reasonably priced considering the series’ popularity. Good, boxed copies range from £15 to £23. The budget version can be found for under £15.
SPELLBOUND DIZZY
It’s hard to imagine a Dizzy game on the ZX Spectrum being rare but a recent copy sold for £97. Fortunately, Dizzy’s Excellent Adventures,
which includes Spellbound Dizzy, rarely hits £30.
STAR WARS GALAXIES
Prices for this depend on what version you buy. A later release with the Empire Divided add-on can be bought for £15, while the original game is upwards of £30.
RYGAR: THE LEGENDARY ADVENTURE
If you don’t mind playing in 50Hz, the PAL edition is no more than £10. You’ll be looking at £30 for the full 60Hz experience in English though, or a tenner for the Japanese version.
HOW MUCH?! GOLDENEYE 007
It’s rare to see non-graded sealed copies of this N64 hit, which is possibly why this one sold for so much cash. Fifteen bidders were after the game, but only one could win it. The price? £1,391.33.
