Shoei Ex-zero £360
www.shoeiassured.co.uk THIS NEW 80S-INSPIRED helmet from Shoei isn’t going to replace your flip-front or race lid. It doesn’t offer the wind or rain protection needed of a long-distance or high-speed helmet. It’s really about what it looks like and here, it excels. Hanging off the bars of my Ducati Scrambler, it just looks fantastic. There is a drop-down visor but it doesn’t quite cover your whole face, so there’s still some exposed areas. Which means riding into the rain feels like millions of tiny needles are being hurled into your face, so I’ve been using motocross goggles instead. It helps a tiny bit with the pain, more so with keeping your face warm, but increases the ‘cool factor’ far more than any physical benefit. It’s available in plain colours with matte and gloss finishes, and a nice colour scheme to be released later in the year, along with pop-on peaks.
Visor works ok but motox goggles also help
