What we learned

Bob Watson

“This is my first time at Cadwell. I’m on my 2005 Fireblade; it’s my price and joy. The track has lots of blind sections and it’s quite hectic but I’m enjoying it. I’ve always wanted to do it, and it’s living up to expectations. I can see why it’s better on a 600; I think I got into third twice!”

Tim Schofield

“My first trackday, and I’m renting a Ducati V4S from the CSS. I’m a bit apprehensive because though I’m a qualified riding instructor, it’s all road and they put me in the intermediate group. I’ve always had quick bikes on the road, so I’m just going to try it and see how I get on.”

Ellis Wheatley

“I’ve ridden Cadwell a couple of times but not for 10 years. And this is only my second trackday on my 675. The track still goes in the same direction it used to but it’s a bit harder now, probably because I’m older! I just need to find a better set-up – the front chatters everywhere.”

Robin Mcneal

“I raced a bit, mostly 600s but packed in a few years ago. So now I just do trackdays instead, on the 2002 R1. Every time I come to Cadwell — and I’ve come here a lot — I find something new, a bit more, a different line, or a camber I’ve never noticed before.”

Nick Colley

“I raced for 10 years on a pre-injection 600 and three years on a GSX-R1000, but in 2015 I had a big crash here at my last meeting and that was it. I wasn’t going to do any more track racing after that, but now I just do trackdays, on the R6.”

Richard Sterna

“Today’s my birthday — this is a good way to spend it. I was here a few weeks ago on another trackday but in the intermediate group only four were road bikes. So it was a bit intimidating. Today I feel much more comfortable because riders are more courteous.”
