The hardest word?

As a new rider of almost 50 years of age, tootling round on my little 125 these past few weeks, I feel I must apologise to all the motorcyclists out there who I must have inadvertently pissed off over the past 33 years of motoring in my car.

It is only now that I realise what total morons a lot of car drivers are and how selfishly we drive, with a total lack of respect for motorcyclists and their safety.

I feel that everyone would benefit from riding round on a bike for a few days, to appreciate how vulnerable bikers are before being allowed to drive a car. It might just make a few more people think. M Wilkinson

Production Editor Jim Blackstock knows what you mean. He too was 50 when he got his licence (New Rider supplement, July 2018 issue) and admits to a new view of motorcyclists and other road users.
