After a seven-year break from (powered) two-wheelers due to the birth of my first child, a separation, house sale, new relationship, birth of two more children and a new house purchase, I have finally managed to save up and get a ‘new’ bike — my immaculate, one-owner, 7600-mile 2000 VFR800.

Less than 30 seconds into the test ride, I was overjoyed the wait was finally over. I now plan to rack up as many miles as I can, commuting (via the scenic route), countryside blasts with the missus and hopefully, get to the TT for the first time too.

Happy as I am, I do wonder why the first owner only did 422 miles a year on this brilliant bike and what I should start saving for next, that offers me a different experience to the sports tourer V4? Gixxer K5? Mille? TL1000S? Mk1 Hayabusa RZ? Decisions, decisions… Henry Stewart
