British Superbikes
September 28-30, Assen, The Netherlands The BSB title fight takes a trip next door... Holland’s just like East Anglia with extra tulips, and hordes of Brits make the pilgrimage each year to one of the world’s great cathedrals of speed. Racers love it too, so great racing is guaranteed. www.britishsuperbike.com
Ride to Save Lives
September 23, Newark, Notts A scenic 62-mile countryside ride, raising money for the excellent Lincs and Notts air ambulance — a vital service entirely reliant on donations to keep it in the air. £12.50 donated gets you a place on the ride, but participants are encouraged to get sponsorship from friends and family to raise as much as possible. Do it if you can — you might be in need of an emergency helicopter ride one day... www.ambucopter.org.uk
Poole Dream Machines
September 25, Poole Quays, Dorset
Every Tuesday night throughout the summer is bike night on Poole Quays — the whole area is taken over by around a thousand bikes (more on a good night). Some are there to show off (there’s a Bike of the Night competition every week) and some just to take in the atmosphere — there are plenty of pubs and restaurants up and down the quayside. This will be the last event of the season, so make the most of it. There’s a £1 entrance charge, though if you decide to make it a regular destination next year, you can get an armband for £8 which covers the full season. www.pooletourism.com
