Parts and servicing
Service schedule
No more complicated than any other modern bike to work on and easier than most, as everything’s pretty easy to get to. The service schedule’s pretty simple — 6000-mile intervals, with oil and filter changed at every service along with full chassis/body fixing check, head bearings adjusted, ECU fault codes checked and cleared, throttle bodies balanced, spark plugs checked and controls adjusted.
Every other service sees valve-clearance checking — important as valves can tighten alarmingly between services — along with air filter, spark plugs, coolant and brake fluid changes. Fork oil’s changed every 24k but we’d do it with each 12,000-mile service. It’s also worth cleaning and re-greasing head bearings and suspension pivots at the same time.
New and used parts prices
New genuine parts are ok, with oil and air filters at £24.37 and £9.55 respectively, chain and sprockets at £153 and brake pads for around £40 a pair (slightly more for the R). Cosmetics and major parts are pricey though — discs are £230 each and a radiator, £524. The Street is well served by the aftermarket though, and Wemoto can supply air and oil filters at £14.78 and £5.28, brake pads from £17, discs from £150 and chain and sprocket kits from £98.
There are quite a few Streets in breakers, and as most mechanical parts are common (as well as with the Daytona), spares supply is good — specific cosmetic parts can be tricky though. A quick look online finds mirrors from £15, front calipers from £35, radiators from £90, forks from £125, early round headlights from £50 each and later slanty ones from £65 a pair.
