Spidi Globetracker H2out suit - jacket £749.99 trousers £549.99

www.spidiuk.com THIS SPIDI TEXTILE suit uses Cebonner outer fabric and a Dermizax waterproof and breathable membrane, removable thermal liners (the jacket puffer can be worn on its own), CE armour throughout, including knees and hips (back protector pocket though none included) and plenty of adjustment and vents. There are pockets absolutely everywhere, all with waterproof zips including five on the jacket, (one on the back) and two on the trousers. The latter feature waist adjusters and braces, while a ¾-length zip lets you join it to the jacket.

In use, both garments are nothing short of excellent — completely wind and waterproof and breathable with proper base layers. The main zip has a storm flap and the collar has an adjustable popper while zipped and fix-open vents on the chest and back of the jacket, and each thigh of the trousers, allow plenty of air in when it’s warm yet stay bone-dry when it’s raining. I’ve ridden in 0°C, wind, rain, mist and spray and have stayed toasty warm and bone dry throughout — no sweatiness, no leaks and no annoying draughts.

I have two minor niggles; fit is adjustable but with the thick inner removed, some gaping and flapping of the outer is inevitable. And poppers at the wrists are tougher to fasten than Velcro, especially with gloves on.

Overall, a middle-budget suit with high-end performance.

?? ?? Vents on the chest use waterproof zips and fasten open for airflow Like those on the chest, thigh vents can be unzipped or opened completely Enormous back vent allows plenty of airflow Inside pocket (red zip), liner fastenings and fittings for chest armour
