Yamaha MT-10

-

Launched in 2016, the MT-10 is the strippeddown supernaked sibling to the 2015 R1. Yamaha updated it 12 months later, with revised engine mapping, renamed throttle modes and an up-only quickshifter.

The crossplane-crank motor is detuned from the R1’s 197bhp to a still-outrageous 158bhp. It sits in a twin-spar aluminium frame with superbike-spec forks and brakes. Somewhat surprisingly, cruise control and a 12-volt power socket come as standard.

The regular MT-10 costs £11,642 on the road. There are two higher-spec versions: the MT-10 SP, with Öhlins semi-active suspension and a TFT dash (£14,442); and the MT-10 Tourer Edition, with handguards, flyscreen, semi-hard panniers and a comfort seat (£12,492).
