Honda CB1000R+

-

The 2018 CB1000R is a dramatic redesign of its 2008 namesake. That bike brought together a retuned 2006 Fireblade engine, a cast-aluminium backbone frame, single-sided swingarm and sharp, angular styling. The new model swaps the frame for a lighter steel item, releases a further 20bhp from the motor (bigger throttle bodies; new pistons; more valve lift), and adds a ride-by-wire throttle, traction control and rider modes. It also has new forks, a fatter rear tyre, a shorter swingarm, a higher and wider handlebar and, most obviously, a completely different look — traditional naked with a modern twist.

The CB1000R costs £11,229, though we’re riding the CB1000R+, which adds heated grips, aluminium trim, radiator cover and a two-way quickshifter, for a £1000 premium.
