Belstaff’s customer service shines

-

In response to a BMW owner being charged £45 for changing a bulb, my tale is at the opposite end of the spectrum of customer service.

I’ve owned an old waxed-cotton Belstaff jacket and trousers for more than 30 years. For at least the last 20 years, they’ve spent their time unused in an unheated garage and time, cold and damp have made them suffer. I was about to chuck them out after a bit of a clear out.

Fortunately, I went to the Greenwich Market Bike Shed event just before Christmas and got chatting to a guy on the Belstaff stand. I mentioned my old Belstaff waterproofs and he suggested popping them up to Belstaff House.

I did this and to cut a long story short, they have just been posted back to me dry-cleaned, re-proofed and good as new, together with a voucher for 20% off any future Belstaff product, all at no charge. How is that for top notch customer service? So, any readers with any old Belstaff gear slowly rotting away: get them in to Belstaff. You won’t be disappointed — mine are now absolutely pristine. R Yes, it’s true. Belstaff offers lifetime complementary reproofing and small repairs on all 6oz waxed-cotton jackets. You do have to take them to your Belstaff dealer or the Bond Street shop in London where the service is undertaken. The service is built around standard re-waxing and simple repairs like zip and stud replacement, though they do charge a fee for bigger repairs. However, we know many who have been very impressed.
