RiDE (UK)

HOW TO GET THERE

-

It’s easy. There are two airports on the island with direct flights from Europe and many British airports, on major and budget airlines. When there, there is a good range of bikes to rent; an Africa Twin is around €135 a day or €390 for three while a KTM 690 Duke is around €105 a day or €285 for three, from motos4fun.com.

Just like hiring your holiday car, it is worth shopping around — insurance cover and extras can vary between firms and some include helmets, jackets and gloves as well, which could cut down on your excess baggage.

TENERIFE TURNED UP TO 11

Length 65 miles

Best for Escaping from the holiday hell Route Puerto de la Cruz — La Orotava — Teide — Santiago del Teide — Buenavista del Norte

Love it because It’s fast, flowing and gives every kind of riding challenge, from smooth flowing corners to nadgery switchbacks. Take a picture at The TF-436 after Masca towards Buenavista is stunning at sunset. Stop for a cuppa at Teide visitor centre — the food’s pretty decent too.
