Even though these Dane Esby Outdry boots were runner-up in the Product Test in the November 2020 issue, I have found myself favouring them through this winter and they have actually been really good.

Throughout the worst of the weather I’ve ridden in, they have kept my feet dry and have worked perfectly on the bike’s controls. They’re good to walk in too.

Where they really score though is the room to wear thick socks when it’s cold without feeling cramped, helping keep my feet toasty warm but not sweaty. The double openings make them easy to get on and they are super-comfortable with nothing digging in at all. JIM BLACKSTOCK

I’ve got two bikes holed up in my garage during lockdown — one with a lithium battery, the other a lead-acid. This tiny charger is all that’s needed to keep both topped up, as it’s safe to use with all battery chemistries and is totally automated. That means I can swap it between my bikes without even having to press a button or select a mode — just connect and forget. Not superpowerful but ideal for storage and an absolute bargain at less than £40. MARTIN FITZ-GIBBONS
