IS CHEAP RIDING KIT WORTH IT?

The simple answer is; yes, most of it is. The jacket and trousers here are remarkable value and performed really well; comfortable, warm, dry and very reassuring with those safety ratings.

Ditto the helmet and boots; on paper they had the right protective qualifications and in use, largely did well, though each had a few limitations. The gloves sadly didn’t stack up but there are other value gloves around that should suit.

Overall, the take-home from this test is that if you are on a budget, then it is perfectly possible to get yourself a full riding outfit for less than £400 that will keep you warm, dry and, most importantly, protected so you can enjoy your riding.
