Mid-level touring boot Waterproof lining CE level-2 protection in all areas www.nevis.uk.com

IN THE SHOWROOM

The Zeniths are a straightforward touring boot, described as ‘Mid-level’ with a full-length single zip covered with a Velcrofastened flap. There are flex panels at the front and back to allow longitudinal movement though the sole is stiff. There are significant heel and toe boxes as well as ankle bracing both inside and outside and there is a large reinforced shin-protection panel. They also have a Hipora lining so should be waterproof and breathable.

ON THE ROAD

The Zeniths were quite tricky to get on — the gusset for the foot opening was very tight and it was difficult to get the full-length zips done up. But once my foot was in, they were a nice, snug fit with nothing digging in. They felt absolutely fine on the bike as well — a little stiff front to back perhaps but not to the point where it was an issue. They were comfortable and my feet didn’t feel cold at all — something that has been an issue for me in other boots in similar conditions. My feet also didn’t feel wet but by the end of the ride and taking them off, it was clear some water had entered, as the bottom of my right sock was damp, as was the insole.
