Centrestand

About as unsexy as it gets but nothing underlines the 1050XT’S practicality as effectively as a centrestand as standard. It’s a £195 accessory on the Africa Twin.

Fuel range

The Strom’s 20-litre tank takes the bike 170 miles to empty or 150 until the reserve bar flashes; not good enough for an adventure bike; if you’re travelling, it means looking for the next fuel stop from 120 miles.

12V and USB sockets

The Strom’s 12V socket is under the pillion seat; it packed up after we plugged heated kit into it (so we hard-wired to the battery instead). The USB port on the left of the dash, however, is perfectly placed for powering a sat nav on the crossbar.
