WINTER ADDONS TESTED

Pyramid Plastics says its ‘Winter Kit’ will help shield the Tracer from the ravages of winter. This is what we think. www.pyramid-plastics.co.uk

Upper Headlight Guards £65.00

Fitting it Two bolts per cowl, one existing and one longer replacement. No bodywork removal required. Need a ball-end Allen key for the top bolt.

Is it worth it? Well-made but the odds of dinging headlight glass are slim; it’s more likely in summer. These aren’t the main headlights, they’re the daytime lights and cornering lights.

Extenda Fenda £55.00

Fitting it Simple — brackets mount to bottom caliper bolt with an option to drill to the existing hugger (but not necessary).

Is it worth it? Anything helps keep crud off the exhaust headers and radiator, then it’s worth fitting. Definitely useful in winter.

Shock Shield £30.00

Fitting it Easy again — a plate bolts onto a cross member behind the shock, then a rubber flap bolts to the plate and fills the gap between the swingarm and the rear shock and linkage.

Is it worth it? The rear shock cops a lot of road slime flung off the back tyre, so the flap will keep most of it away from the shock and linkage joints.

Radiator Guard £50.00

Fitting it Both fairing side panels need removing— one bolt, three pop clips, two push studs and an interlocking tab on each side. The guard is bolted between brackets on either side of the rad.

Is it worth it? With the long front mudguard flap keeping more crud off the rad, it’s not really winterproofing the Tracer, but if you habitually ride behind other bikes, it’ll prevent a stone in the rad.
