‘It’s so easy to ride and keep up with others on’

LIZZY BURRAWAY, 47 Height 5ft 6in Owns 2019 Kawasaki H2 SX SE

What’s good?

“Before the H2 SX I owned a normally-aspirated 1000SX but I found myself having to work it hard everywhere. The H2 has so much grunt and I’m glad that’s unchanged; it’s so easy to ride and keep up with others on.

“The new radar-assisted cruise control is incredibly impressive. I tend not to use cruise control but I could see using it this much more. You aren’t on and off the brakes; it does it all for you and so smoothly. It picked up on cars and bikes but you need to sit to the centre or right of your lane so it doesn’t react to vehicles on your inside.

“I love the new dash, especially with its sat-nav function, which is a real benefit for touring. It is clear and easier to read than the dash on my bike. I am also impressed by the blind-spot system, which is a really helpful safety aid. I’ve used it on a car but the warning light was annoyingly bright and distracting; on the H2 it is unobtrusive.”

Not keen on?

“I’m not a fan of keyless systems and I find it annoying the fuel tank requires a key and its cap seems plastic. A bigger screen would be nicer and the radar box on the back is ugly and means you can’t fit a tail tidy.”

Are you convinced? “Yes, I am. I like the way Kawasaki has added a few extra perks that are genuinely helpful. They have made a great tourer even better and enhanced the riding experience. I love the way the new technology is integrated rather than forced upon you.”

Would you buy it?

“Yes, I would but there is a problem. I don’t think the new one is worth nearly £25k. I bought mine for £14,500 and that’s where it makes sense to me. If I won the lottery I’d buy one but, until then,

I’d go used. So in a few years’ time, 100% I’d buy one.”
