2 Richa Rain Warrior £45.99 (jacket), £26.99 (trousers)
Superb performance but storage bag is poor
The Rain Warriors feel robust, with a chunky main zip pull on the jacket and material liner throughout both the jacket and trousers. It’s a shame the mesh storage bags feel like they may rip if you are too forceful with them, but overall, initial impressions are good.
Very quick to put on, boots slip easily through the trousers thanks to the liner and a drawstring waist adjuster means you can get a nice tight fit, helping prevent leaks.
The jacket is equally simple and sits snug against your neck with a high collar, but its non-adjustable elastic cuffs – although pleasingly tight – make getting gloves underneath a fiddle and the elasticated waist feels like it makes the jacket rise up.
On the bike, the jacket performed very well. Its heavy construction prevented it flapping around and the tight cuff and high-lined neck felt snug and prevented draughts, boding well for the waterproof test. But disappointingly, the lighter-construction trousers tended to rise up – exposing ankles to draughts and potentially water.
Performing superbly on the water test, the trousers were perfect while the jacket was only let down by a small drip from the neck and the fact the neck lining trapped water, leading to a clammy sensation. But that’s the trade-off for a comfortable neck.
The size range is huge, with 4XL and 5XL jackets costing £5 more and 3XL-12XL trousers £3 more.
‘Nearly passed the water test without any leaks’
VERDICT
An excellent product that nearly passed the waterproof test without any leaks. Hard to fault and good value.
