Seven-time champ Cox is on course

LITTLEBORO­UGH Boxing and Fitness Centre are working with Double Olympian Sophie Cox to bring Judo and Brazillian Juijitsi to Littleboro­ugh this summer.

Sophie has committed to two courses this summer for young people 5-12 years old.

The two courses will take place over 3 days as follows: Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th, and Wednesday 28th of July 5pm-6pm for 5-7 year olds and 6pm-7pm for 8-12 year olds and Tuesday 2nd, Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th August 5pm-6pm for 5-7 year olds and 6pm-7pm for 8-12 year olds.

The British judo player from Rochdale, Cox represente­d Team GB in Athens 2004 and London 2012.

She has been British Champion seven times and won medals at the 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2011 European Championsh­ips.

She now coaches judo to all ages and levels as well as working for the Youth Sports Trust and the Dame Kelly Holmes trust as an athlete mentor.

Sophie is passionate about promoting sport for social, mental and physical health and well-being.

She is one of only a handful of level 4 coaches in the country.

She now also trains and competes in Brazillian Juijitsu winning two silver medals at the European Championsh­ips this year.

“Since the London Olympics I have been busy building up my coaching experience and I am now one of the most respected and qualified coaches in GB judo I am excited about being able to run a course in my own town and hopefully inspire some young people,” said Sophie.

The cost of the three day courses will be £20 which will include a free t-shirt if booked before the 15th of July, 2016.
