I’m back on road to help charity

-

I INTEND to, quite literally, go the extra mile to help raise money for local charity Rochdale Connections Trust by taking part in the London Marathon this April.

As you may know, I’m no triathlete. Training for another marathon isn’t the easiest thing to get back into.

But what really motivates me back into the swing of things is the chance to raise money for an exceptional local charity.

Rochdale Connections Trust work with people facing a wide range of barriers, from victims of abuse to anger issues or grief, often without family support. It might be that all someone needs is a helping hand onto a training course or a counselling programme specifically designed for them in order to turn their life around and Rochdale Connections Trust are there to see that happen.

They do great work helping people get their lives back on track, which is why I’ve dug out the running shoes.

I’m the first to admit that training for a marathon is no small task. But remembering that feeling of crossing the finishing line, coming down The Mall and realising you’ve just about managed it is a great experience.

I did it in four hours 49 minutes last time so I’d like to improve on that as well.

But crucially, with your donations we can contribute to Rochdale Connections Trust excellent work, and in the process give a helping hand to those that need it most in our town. Donate online here: http://bit. ly/2mfZBcY.
