Mayfield all set for Kells test

-

AFTER the bitter disappointment of going down at Myton last week Mayfield entertain Cumbrian side Kells at the Mayfield Sports Centre this afternoon.

Kells have two wins from three outings while Mayfield have just the one.

Last week’s defeat was particularly hard to take with the players and the coaches all knowing they should have come back with the two points.

There were enough bright moments in the game to show that they still have ability to play great rugby they just have to get the mental attitude right and apply that for the full eighty minutes.

There will be a few players facing late fitness tests before Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth name their seventeen and there maywell be changes, with the second team players putting on a fantastic display of rugby league at much fancied St Judes last week.

Marvin Connolly and Niel Ramsden won’t want to lose any players to the first team squad but both have enough experience to know that all players need to be able to play at the highest level and will give their blessing to any selection changes they have enforced on them.

The NWML side are again on the road this afternoon with a short trip to Leland Warriors.

Mayfield’s young side travel full of confidence after two wins from two and two outstanding performances.

There is a real buzz around the second team at the moment and training has been good with the players showing a good attitude.

The coaches will delay naming their side until the first team have finalised theirs but they still have enough strength in depth to be able to field a winning side.
