Town continues to grow
SINCE I became your MP, I have championed a better future for our town and I continue to work hard in close collaboration with Rochdale council and other organisations to see that future delivered.
Over the years, we have built a strong partnership which has delivered a wide variety of improvements that all of us in Rochdale benefit from.
I welcome the reopening of the River Roch and I’ve put my full support behind improvements made to Rochdale train station, integration into the Greater Manchester tram network and together we are working toward securing funding which will go towards renovating our historic town hall.
Rochdale has seen a considerable array of projects that continue to make a positive change to our town, from transport through to tourism and leisure.
Many of you will be well aware that I campaigned extensively to help small businesses grow in Rochdale, devising a good local support scheme which has seen 22 independent shops take advantage of our reduced business rates.
It is through cooperation that the council and I have delivered change that’s made a real difference to businesses across our town.
But there is more to be done.
Our team effort ensures that Rochdale continues to grow.
Looking to the future, I am pleased that we will soon see the construction of Rochdale Riverside, a shopping and leisure complex expected to create over 1,000 local jobs and boost our economy by £17 million a year.
I am pleased that we are finding innovative new ways to make Rochdale a safer, fairer and more prosperous place to live.
