Mayfield back in action

-

IT’S back to the grindstone this week as Mayfield resume their fixtures after the bank holiday break.

Mayfield play hosts to St Helens club Pilkington recs. Pilks have struggled this season back in the big time but are not a team to be underestimated, with a strong back line and a good mobile half back pairing.

It is just a matter of time before they come into form. Mayfield hope that will not be today and will be fielding a strong side in the hope of taking the points and possibly climbing into forth position in the Kingstone Press NCL Premier division, depending on West Hull’s result.

The week’s break has given players the opportunity to get over those mid-season knocks they have been carrying and should see two super fit sides take the field.

Mayfield have struggled to field an unchanged side so far this term and their form and, indeed results, have been influenced by this a good win at the Mayfield Sports Centre this afternoon could see them put that right and be the start of a run of good form that the fans and coaches are waiting for.

Due to the withdrawal of Bank Quay from the league, the NWML side again have no game. Dave Harmer and Marvin Connolly are gutted at this and urge the lads to turn up and support the senior side where coach Harmer has promised to treat the lads to a drink.
