Where to enjoy bonfire fun

DETAILS of the councilrun bonfire have been released.

Three bonfire and fireworks displays will take place across the borough. They are at:

Bowlee Community Park, Middleton, on Tuesday, October 31

Queens Park Road, Heywood, on Wednesday, November 1.

Cronkeysha­w Common, Rochdale, on Thursday, November 2.

At all events the bonfires will be lit at 7pm and firework displays will start at 7.30pm. Entry is free.

There will also be family fun fairs at the Middleton and Heywood events.

Coun Neil Emmott, cabinet member for housing and environmen­t, said: “Our three bonfire events always go off with a bang and are enjoyed by thousands of residents every year, so make sure you don’t miss out on this year’s dazzling displays, tasty treats and amazing activities; grab your hats, scarves and gloves and join in the family fun.”

More than 4,000 people attended last year’s events.

The council has organised this year’s bonfires in partnershi­p with the Safe4Autum­n Treacle Campaign, a joint campaign with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and Trading Standards aimed at ensuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable bonfire night.
