Centre to tackle eating disorders

-

A SPECIALIST centre for youngsters in Rochdale with eating disorders will be launched next week.

The Community Eating Disorders Service will provide support for eight to 18-year-olds, who have an eating disorder.

Since July 2017 , when the service began, 135 young people have been helped, with some being prevented from going into hospital. The launch event will give young people and their families, along with GPs and health professionals, the opportunity to find out more about the support available.

The event will run from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday (November 8) at the service’s North Hub, 14 Tenterden Street, Bury.

The hub provides support to those who live, or have a GP, in Bury, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale and Oldham.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Dorothy Gunther, will officially launch the service at 6pm.

Joanne Huddart, Community Eating Disorders Service operational manager, said: “Our launch event provides a great opportunity to come along, have some fun and find out how we can help children and young people who have an eating disorder.”

If you would like to attend, contact the service, which is run by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Healthy Young Minds Service, on 0161 716 1560 or at Pennine.ED@ nhs.net For information visit healthyyoungminds pennine.nhs.uk/ eatingdisorders.
