Fright night at the park

-

THERE were spooky goings on in Norden as the Friends of Jubille Park held their Halloween party.

More than 250 children and parents dressed up in scary costumes for the bash.

Entertainment included whack the bat, trick or treat, music and dancing

Volunteers, including Duke of Edinburgh students, worked all day to provide the event for the village and decorated the park with a spooky graveyard and sound and lighting effects.

GMP attended with a team of young police cadets who gave up their time to help out during the event.

Fab Dance Centre lead by Fiona Briddon also put on a show which began with a Michael Jackson’s Thriller flash mob routine and followed by many other Halloween classics and Suzanne Clark from Suzie Cakes was on hand offering a range of home made Halloween treat.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, Ian and Christine Duckworth, were also on hand to award prizes to the best dressed children, accompanied by Norden councillors Peter Winkler and Michael Holly, who judged best pumpkin.

Paul Ellison, chairman of Friends of Norden Jubilee Park, said: “What a great event for Norden, and it was so good to see so many children and parents having spooky Halloween fun. It was an unbelievable turn out and the park was in its element.

“We have some wonderful pictures of the event that were taken my professional photographer Doliz Miah.”

“Thanks to all who attended, and all the volunteers who helped out. I would like to thank our sponsors, Fab Dance Centre, Suzie Cakes, Doliz Miah photography, The Bridge Chippy, Carousel Cards and Party, Maskerade Fancy Dress and Gary Clegg Building Services.”
