Matty’s living life in the fast lane

-

Name: just sat down and watched it with my grandad, I was 12 years old and I was hooked. My first drive in a kart was on the same Butlin’s holiday around a tiny karting track which I then ended up going on every day of the holiday. When I came back off my holidays I went straight on track and found that I was a pretty good driver.

What you enjoy most about it?:

The speed, the thrill, the fact you have to have fast reactions, it’s the only place my mind can keep up with my brain’s reactions, as I am always full throttle in my brain, being autistic. Grass root (beginners) karting is like a big friendly community. One minute you will be racing against each other the next your competitor is the first to come over and help you with a broken kart What makes you different from other activity centres in the area?: We are more than just a karting track. The high-quality service we deliver, the social aspect, is great for the autistic kids, helps with their interaction and social skills and they are around like-minded people. We are the highest rated all tarmac track in the UK.

What plans have you got for the future?:

For TeamKarting we are currently introducing our online booking system. We are developing a mobile app so customers can see their lap times on our leader board facility and can book to beat their score. I ultimately would like an outdoor mobile race track and an outdoor race team. Karting is the link between grassroots and professional motorsport and I hope we can be a part of training up some of the UKs finest motorsport champions. Improving our facilities year on year to be the very best and being acknowledged by winning further excellence awards. Why should people come to the track at Team karting Rochdale?: Its got a great fun atmosphere, a 100 per cent tarmac track, comparable to outdoor racing, on hand help and advice, our track marshals will be the first to help you on track. Competitive prices and the high quality of our karts as they are brand new. If you could drive with anyone who would it be and why?: I would love to drive with the kids that we teach and coach here as at the minute they could drive better than me. Of course, I have had the honour of driving the Mayor and
