Hornets’ new additions can bring stability

-

ROCHDALE Hornets head coach Alan Kilshaw is hoping that his new signings will lead to a stable squad for the forthcoming Championship campaign.

The Hornets players are back in pre-season training, with a number of new faces in attendance after joining the team over the past few months, and Kilshaw is happy with the squad he has assembled.

“I’m happy with the squad. We want a stable squad and not as many ins and outs,” he said.

“We’re in a similar position to last season and over the long term hopefully won’t have as many changes

“Our spine will be practically the same as last year, so that will help us.

“We’re integrating the new players into the group and it’s a good environment and place to develop as everybody is equal and has a say.”

Kilshaw’s side had a good campaign in the Championship last season, and the Hornets boss is hoping to use that experience to their advantage.

“We know how certain teams play now, and we’ll take the lessons that we learned last season into the new season,” he said.

“We want to start strong and then have a good middle and end.

“We got into a grind a bit last year so this time around we need consistency.”

Hornets have announced two pre-season fixtures so far, with the team taking on Warrington Wolves at the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday 13 November, before then welcoming League 1 outfit North Wales Crusaders on Sunday 21 January.
