Owls or Swans next for winners

-

IF Rochdale can pull off the incredible upset at Wembley and knock Tottenham Hotspur out of the competition, they will face either Swansea City or Sheffield Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The two teams have a replay of their own to deal with at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday, after their original tie finished 0-0 at Hillsborough last weekend.

Swansea defender Kyle Bartley says his side have good experience when it comes to replays, and he hopes they’ll win and potentially clinch a tie against Rochdale in the next round.

“We have been in this situation before and we have got good results when we have done that,” said Bartley ahead of his side’s replay.

“The crowd will be right behind us and hopefully we will play some good football and book our place in the next round.

“We were disappointed not to have won it in the first game, but we kept a clean sheet and that is pleasing.

“We battled well and the fact we have kept the unbeaten run going is massive for us. It keeps building momentum and the longer our unbeaten run continues, the more confidence we will get.”

While Rochdale get the chance to compete at Wembley on Wednesday, Sheffield Wednesday will now have to win two more FA Cup games to do so themselves, and Owls midfielder David Jones says the chance to do what Rochdale are doing is motivation for the players.

“We’re still in the competition and we want to do well. We’re only a couple of games away from Wembley which is something we want to aim for,” he said.

“I think we were the stronger team in the first half of our initial match against them and we probably should have got a goal as we deserved it.”
