Dobre must up his work rate to reach top

-

ALEX Dobre may have scored a worldy on his Rochdale debut at Walsall – but he’s got a long way to go before impressing Keith Hill.

The Dale boss handed loan signing Dobre his first start as a second half sub at the Banks’ Stadium, where Dale ran out 3-0 winners to breathe life into their quest for League One survival.

And the promising Bournemouth youngster opened his account for the club with a stunning effort late in the game.

However, Hill is looking for much more from the 19-year-old and suggested he take a leaf out of Ian Henderson’s book.

“He did one thing in the game – what else did he do?” Hill said.

“I want more hard work, I want more pressing and I want more tracking runners.

“If he’s got the natural ability to score a goal like that, the other things should come naturally and then he’d be a world beater!

“He’s a young kid and he’s got great feet which we see in training, but does he work harder than Ian Henderson? No. If he starts doing that then he’ll be a Premier League player.”

The victory moved Dale off the bottom of the table, but Hill – who takes his side to Rotherham on Saturday – said they have to follow it up with more three-point returns.

“From the players’ perspective I don’t what to go over the top and say marvellous, superb, brilliant and then we fall on our backsides against Rotherham at the weekend. It’s got to be back-to-back-to-back-toback wins, or else we’re going down, but I think the players realise the position that we’re in.”
