New service aims to aid recovery from drink and drugs problems
A NEW support service for people with drugs and alcohol problems has been launched in Rochdale.
Rochdale and Oldham Active Recovery (ROAR) has been set up by social enterprise Turning Point.
It will be based at 13 St Chad’s Court offering medical, social and psychological support.
Gill Campbell, head of operations north west, at Turning Point said: “Turning Point is looking forward to delivering a high quality service for the residents of Rochdale and Oldham.
“We will continue to provide medical, social and psychological support whilst providing innovative packages of care for our service users and their families to support their long term recovery.
Katrina Stephens, director of public health in Oldham, said: “The joint commission of a substance misuse service is yet another example of cooperative working.
“This collaboration between Oldham and Rochdale Councils will allow both local authorities to share resources, knowledge and skills, drawing on each other’s successes.
“The new contract will focus on maintaining the already high quality provision, for now and the future, ensuring that both councils are fulfilling their duty in reducing health inequalities and improving the health of the local population.
“This new service will allow people from Oldham and Rochdale to access treatment from locations in either borough.
“It will enable people to make positive changes to their lives and support them to move towards a life free from dependency. Support available will include support to sustain stable housing and employment”
