UP-AND-COMING bands and solo artists can bag themselves a once-in-alifetime opportunity to play in front of thousands of people as this year’s Rochdale Feel Good – Battle of the Bands opens for entries.

The annual search for local talent is run by the Feel Good Festival organisers Rochdale council and will sees winners given a coveted main stage slot on Saturday, August 18, playing alongside headliners Feeder, Cast and other bands to be announced.

To stand a chance of bagging a 25-minute set in front of the festival’s crowds acts should email a link to a Youtube video of them playing live, along with a short biography to events@rochdale.gov.uk.

Solo artists must live in the borough, and bands must have at least half of their members living in the borough.

Entries must be made by May 23.

After the closing date, submissions will be added to the festival’s Facebook page, before the top six who get the most ‘likes’ go forward to a judging panel who will decide on who performs on the main stage.

Last year Rochdale indie/rock four piece The Recreation won the competition and bagged the biggest gig of their career to date, supporting Razorlight.

Ben Boothman, one of the judges and owner of main stage sponsor The Flying Horse Hotel said: “Most local acts want to play Rochdale Feel Good Festival and interest in this competition gets bigger every year.

“Over the last decade we’ve seen some superb local acts win, and The Recreation who scooped the top prize last year are continuing to do really well and firmly establishing themselves.

“It’s a perfect opportunity for local musicians to raise their profile and all genres and styles of music can enter. We’re expecting another quality field this year.”

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on August 18, for another showcase of top class entertainment, food and culture.

There will be live music across indoor venues, a main stage against the backdrop of the town hall with headliner Feeder supported by indie rock band Cast plus many more to be announced, a quality food and drink court plus family entertainment. For more visit rochdalefeelgoodfestival. co.uk.
