Holly puts on the style at her new salon

-

HAIRDRESSER Holly Shadwell has taken on a new challenge by opening her own salon.

The 26-year-old from Whitworth worked in two well established salons as well as having a brief stint of freelance hairdressing before plucking up the courage to set up the Holly Jayne Hair Establishment.

She said: “I keep a cosy, chilled vibe in the salon and treat every client as a good friend not just a customer.

“I love my job so much and after lots of hard work I’m very lucky to have achieved so much during my career.

“I am so excited for the future of my lovely little salon”.

Holly began her hairdressing years ago.

After finishing her A-Levels at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar school, she wanted to do something creative; making the most of her artistic flair.

She completed her VRQ levels 2 and 3 in ladies hairdressing at Bury College with distinctions and went on to complete her NVQ level 3 within a salon to get extra experience and training.

While working full-time as a stylist she completed her Level 2 in barbering to expand her skills into male grooming.

Barbering is still one of her favourite areas of the hairdressing industry now.

Holly decided she needed a new challenge journey seven and began her HND in hairdressing, which she graduated for last July.

She is now doing her final year to finish her BA Hons degree in hairdressing management.

During her hairdressing career she won student of the year three years running at Bury College and got through to the final round of the national student of the year award for her HND.

She has taken part in photo shoots and editorials as well as attending many training sessions for colouring and session styling work with the prestigious brand, Kevin Murphy, in Manchester.

She has been lucky to be very successful in numerous competitions including Wella exposure, getting through to the second stage of the world skills competitions, achieving a second and a first place in the regional heats for ladies’ cut and blow and fourth place in the national finals and third place in an NHF bridal competition.

She said: “I always pride myself on continually growing my skills and keeping my training up to date and on trend.

“I specialise in precision cuts both ladies and gents, creative colouring and bridal/hair up work.

“I make sure every style is catered specifically to each client and always have thorough consultations to ensure each client is happy with their style.”

The Holly Jayne Hair Establishment is in Buttermere Avenue, Heywood.
