A CAR was driven into a crowd of people after a mass brawl broke out at a pub.

A group of around eight people were in the beer garden of the Sandy Lane pub when a fight started.

A man then left and got into a small silver car.

The group in the beer garden then left and stood around outside on either side of the road.

Moments later, the silver car collided with a group of people, leaving them with multiple injuries.

A spokesman for GMP confirmed eight people were hurt.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said three people were taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital.

The genders and ages of those involved have not yet been released.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries, police said.

Officers investigating the incident, which happened at around 10.30pm on May 26, are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Ian Harratt of GMP’s Oldham borough, said: “This was a dispute between a group of people that escalated and sadly, left a number of innocent people injured.

“We believe this was an isolated incident and while we have made an arrest, our investigation into how this situation unfolded continues.

“It’s absolutely vital that we hear from people who were at the pub that night and saw the disturbance or the collision, so please get in touch if you haven’t already.”
