Boro’s girls end season in fine form
PUTTING a difficult start behind them, Littleborough’s Under 13 girls finished the season in fine form.
From the start of the season the youngest of the club’s junior girls teams had only three girls who had picked up a rugby ball before, so the beginning of the campaign proved to be very challenging, playing some very established teams and as a result experiencing some very heavy losses along the way.
Christmas served as a turning point with a few victories and a new found confidence started to emerge from the group.
This confidence was shown in bucketloads by the girl’s captain and this year’s girl of granite Morgan Pearson, with 2018 Club-Woman Lucy Gregg showing the rest of the girls how a pink warrior should conduct themselves on and off the pitch, maintaining a high level of performance.
Kadee Hoyle worked hard to achieve the award for most improved for this year proving that you can take the fitness and athleticism from the tennis court to a rugby field!
Rounding up the awards, Georgia Crossley won the players’ player – well deserved for a girl who has an insatiable heart and desire for the game.
The rest of the team is comprised of: Ellie Cupitt, Mia Wright, Kacie Bush, Alyssa Parker, Niamh Clegg, Elise Nolan, Harley Kirby, Elisha O’Connorm, Nicole Smith.
Madison Lawler also contributed so much to the club and helped make the 2017-18 season another successful one for the Littleborough Pink Warriors!
For the girls to have continued to work hard week in, week out despite losing and not giving in, to put in eye catching displays at the Woody Festival and Boro’s very own girls festival, showed the type of character and warrior spirit all other teams should have.
Pre-season training starts after the taster day at Rakewood on the 8th July 2018 where any girls currently in year 6/7 at school will be warmly welcomed!
It is free to come down to the sports club behind Hollingworth Lake.
There will be food and drink among a raft of activities available.
