Dale boosted by Williams return

JORDAN Williams is back at the Crown Oil Arena – and has unfinished business to attend to.

Known to Dale supporters as MJ Williams – due to the fact they also have Jordan Williams from Barrow on the books – the 22-year-old has penned a two-year deal, effective from July 1st, when his contract expires at Premier League side Liverpool.

Williams joined Dale on loan from the Reds on the final day of last summer’s transfer window, but his stay at the club was cut short due to a knee injury, with the last of his 14 appearances coming in October.

“I feel as though I’ve got unfinished business here,” he said. “I had interest from elsewhere, but as soon as Keith Hill got on the phone to me, there was no other club that I wanted to go to.

“It’s a brilliant move for me – I know the Gaffer well and I know that he has wanted me since he found out that there could be a chance of me coming back here. I’m ready to kick on now.”

The versatile player, who is comfortable operating in midfield and defence, joined Liverpool’s Academy at under14 level and progressed through the ranks there, before going on to make his debut for the first team in September 2014.
