Wides cost Boro dear in tight contest

-

LITTLEBOROUGH’S poor run of form continued at home to Rishton as World Cup fever hit the whole of Britain on yet another sunny day.

Littleborough can’t buy a win at the moment as they went down by two wickets in yet another inconsistent performance with the ball this time.

They managed to post a decent total of 219-8 with two half centuries to Hernon and Kaber and Perren chipping in with 41.

Nash also played a nice little cameo with 26 off just 16 balls at the back end of the innings.

Miskella and Wilman bowled poorly early as the visitors coasted to 152/2 thanks to Amjad and Boddle.

However Wilman did make amends in his second spell and returned his best figures for the club with a six-wicket conceding 58 runs off his 15 overs.

They had the visitors teetering at 199/8 still needing 23 with just the two wickets remaining but the home side couldn’t make any more inroads and Rishton got home with four balls remaining. The home side will rue the fact they sent down 19 wides and four balls in what turned out to be a close game.

Next stop is Lowerhouse away on World Cup final day and hopefully Littleborough will bring a win home with them.
