Man arrested after sex attack on boy fishing
AMAN has been arrested after a teenage boy was sexually assaulted while he was fishing.
The 60-year-old is being held on suspicion of sexual assault and was arrested on Thursday
He remains in custody for questioning.
The sexual assault took place near to a body of water close to the Rochdale Canal, near to Hollingworth Road, Littleborough, at around 5.20pm on Tuesday afternoon.
The 14-year-old boy was magnet fishing when he was approached by a man who told him to head to another area a short distance away as he would have a better chance of finding something.
He moved over to that location and a short time later the man followed him, where he sexually assaulted him.
The boy managed to run away to safety.
Det Sgt Paul Davies, of GMP’s Rochdale Borough, said: “This has been a fast moving investigation and we have arrested a man in the Rochdale area on suspicion of sexual assault.
“He remains in custody for questioning, however, our investigation continues.”
