Look at club’s big picture says Hill

-

KEITH Hill wants a greater understanding of the big picture at Rochdale.

The Dale chief admitted he was, at times, made despondent by negative reactions to results and said it was an unfair reflection on the huge strides the club has made during his tenure.

“What I have to do is make sure I stay in a job,” he said. “I can’t for the life of me think why I wouldn’t be in a job, because I have to keep reminding myself when I feel a bit down just how successful we’ve been at this club. I am very privileged to be one of only one manager who has ever managed this club for six seasons in League One. It’s unheard of. Normally, managers are managing clubs in League Two with 30 per cent win ratios, so I’m pleased with the development at this club and I’m quite excited watching some of these young players come through.

“I haven’t got a problem with anything that’s being developed at the club – the layering system, the way we have to sell players to generate cash because we can’t do it any other way...but I think there has to be more understanding to it and that does let me down and make me despondent at times. We’re doing something that has never been done in this club’s history, never! I do put too much pressure on the club, I must admit that, to be successful – I am disappointed we’re not higher up the league with the platers we’ve got.

“But really looking after number one, Keith Hill, I’ve got to keep myself in a job.”
