Watchdog to probe arrest in store
THE police watchdog has launched an investigation after two people were arrested at a supermarket.
Footage of the incident on social media shows GMP officers arresting two people at a Tesco supermarket on Silk Street, Rochdale, last Tuesday night.
Nasir Hussain, 28, and Mahira Hussain, 28, both of Landseet Street, Oldham, have been charged with assault of a constable in connection with the incident.
They have been released on bail and will next appear at Manchester and Salford magistrates court on Tuesday, October 30.
Now the The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating GMP’s handling of the incident following a complaint alleging excessive use of force and discrimination.
