Mar­i­anne, 11, ‘was a nat­u­ral born leader’

THE fam­ily of an 11-year-old girl who died in a road col­li­sion have paid trib­ute to their ‘beau­ti­ful daugh­ter’. Mar­i­anne Haboc died fol­low­ing the col­li­sion on Tay­lor Street in Rochdale on Mon­day.

De­spite the ef­forts of the emer­gency ser­vices, she was pro­nounced dead at the scene. The driver of the red Range Rover in­volved in the col­li­sion stopped at the scene.

The 33-year-old woman has since been re­leased un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion while po­lice con­tinue to make en­quiries.

Mar­i­anne, who was a mem­ber of the Rochdale Olympic Gym­nas­tics club, was in her fi­nal year at St Patrick’s Pri­mary School.

In their trib­ute, her fam­ily said the young­ster used to get to school early to make friends with younger pupils.

The trib­ute said: “Mar­i­anne, our beau­ti­ful daugh­ter, was a nat­u­ral born leader that could mo­ti­vate friends to unite and do the same to­gether re­gard­less of age, race or be­lief.

“It was her own goal to be a top pupil of the year be­fore leav­ing pri­mary school.”
