Stu­dent is convicted of Keith’s man­slaugh­ter

ASTUDENT has been found guilty of killing a dad with a sin­gle punch.

A jury convicted as­pir­ing foot­ball man­ager Ja­far Ali of the man­slaugh­ter of Keith Maden fol­low­ing a row out­side a take­away in Rochdale town cen­tre.

Ali, who was 19 at the time of the at­tack, claimed 5ft 4ins Keith had threat­ened to head­butt him, in­sist­ing he had acted in self-de­fence.

Keith, 59, who had health prob­lems, never re­gained con­scious­ness af­ter smash­ing his head on the pave­ment and died in hospi­tal the next day of ‘catastrophic’ in­juries.

Ali told po­lice of­fi­cers Keith had pushed him, adding: “I’m not ly­ing to you, I gave him the light­est punch I’ve ever given any­one in my life.”
