Boy ‘lost tooth’ in school attack

-

AMOTHER has taken two of her sons out of school after an attack left her eldest needing hospital treatment.

Falinge Park High School pupil Scott Kierans, 13, had his ‘tooth knocked out while another was left hanging by a thread’ after being attacked by another child.

Michelle Parr said Scott suffered his injuries after stepping in to protect his 12-year-old brother Jordan during an incident at the school. She said the attack on Scott - which is being investigated by the police - has left him too scared to leave the house.

She said that she was called to the school and found Year 9 pupil Scott bleeding from the face and being treated by paramedics.

The mum-of-six, of Gale Street, Syke, says one of Scott’s teeth was knocked out and another was left ‘hanging by a thread’. He has had a temporary brace fitted to try to reattach the teeth, but Michelle says there is a 50/50 chance he will lose them.

She said: “On arriving to the school I had to run back out in total horror and upset in seeing him in such a state. He was being attended to by two paramedics, lump to the forehead, one whole tooth in a cup of milk, one hanging by a thread, no feelings to the whole of his mouth, a big open cut to his upper lip, covered in blood and in a state of shock.

“It is not yet known if his teeth will survive, it’s a 50/50 chance.”

Michelle, who lives with her fiance, Darren Granger, said: “All we can do it hope they won’t discolour, he may need a root canal and he is only 13 years old. He doesn’t want to leave the house or go back to school. My son still hasn’t recovered mentally or physically and that really upsets me as a mum.

“He is still on a liquid diet and he’s still wearing a temporary brace.”

A spokesman for the school said: “Since the incident took place we have been in frequent contact with the parents and we’ve put a range of plans and measures in place to help support all parties back into school, at present this has not been possible. We dealt with the incident swiftly and sufficiently, in line with our policies and procedures. The police are looking into the incident so it is inappropriate for us to comment further.”

A police spokesman said: “Shortly before 11.45am on September 14 police were called to reports of an assault on Falinge Road. A 13-yearold boy was assaulted and taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing.”
