K-Stars, who are based at St. Thomas Church, Kirkholt, picked the awards in a number of categories including Troupe of the Year and Mascot of the Year at this year’s championships in Prestatyn, Wales in September.

The group’s founder and trainer, Kirsty Fearnehough, said: “Our first season has gone exceptionally well and I couldn’t be any more proud.

“All my dancers have worked so hard over our first season together as K-Stars and we have won quite a few competitions and trophies leading up to our first end-of-season championships.”

Kirsty added that she was proud of her team for embodying the troupe’s motto ‘passion, purpose and pride’ at each competition.

She said: “They turn up to practice at night, week in and week out, and put so much effort into everything they do and strive to succeed - all our results definitely paid off.

“We have now just set back up for our second season and hoping to do well again in this coming year.”
