-

ROCHDALE Hornets this week announced the signing of loose forward Liam Carberry on a one year deal.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Widnes Vikings and has had spells at South Wales Scorpions, Swinton Lions and under Hornets head coach Carl Forster at Whitehaven.

“I’m really happy to get Liam at the club,” said Forster.

“He’s a top player with good experience that we need in our pack, he is a strong runner that can play with the ball. He is a big addition to our squad this season.”

The club will kick off their 2019 Betfred Championship campaign against Dewsbury Rams at the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday 3rd February, for the third season in a row.

Canadian outfit Toronto Wolfpack then visit the Hornets in round two, before the Hornets travel to France to take on Toulouse Olympique in their first away game of the season.

Carl Forster’s side will face Widnes Vikings on March 24th while the first derby against Swinton Lions will take place on Good Friday. The two will then face them once again at the Summer Bash on the 18th of May which is being hosted at Bloomfield Road for a fifth straight season.

Hornets travel across the Atlantic to face the Wolfpack on August 17.
