Butterworth’s Norden brace
GREG Butterworth received two of the major trophies when Norden Cricket Club held a presentation night on Friday.
He won the Asif Mujtaba Shield which is awarded for having gained most nominations for leading players in matches, and the Geoff and Marion Hargreaves Trophy as the players’ player of the year.
Jayne Salford was named as the most consistent player on the ladies’ team which won the Lancashire Softball League in what was only their second full season.

The trophies were presented by guest speaker and former Lancashire and England player Graeme Fowler, and his former Lancashire teammate Ian Austin.
The event was overseen by NCC cricket chairman Dexter Fitton and MC Matt Allen, with entertainment from Tony Grant and his Freddie Mercury tribute act.
