Century tally for Boro girls

-

HAVING been on the wrong side of some disappointing results in recent weeks, Littleborough Under 15s put it all behind them with a 103-0 victory against a combined Manchester and Rochdale team.

The Rakewoodbased teenagers, who included rookie Molly McCarney in their side, shone with a 17-strong try feast.

Littleborough, and particularly Kiera Boardman, wasted no time in crossing the soaked whitewash as she burst through for the opening try. This try then catapulted the home team into frenzy as Morgan Pearson, Amy Perren, Boardman once more and Ella Fearnley all scored.

One of the most impressive elements to their game was the ability to generate such quick ball from the ruck and constantly have the visitors on the back foot.

A second try of the afternoon for Morgan Pearson and a seventh conversion for Ellie Fitzgerald in the first half saw Littleborough take a big lead into the break.

Unrelenting in their pursuit and hunger for more, the home side continued to find the try line. Captain Courtney Mills scored first before Molly Yates, Perren, second rows Fearnley and Kirsty Bella all used their pace and power to stride over.

Flanker Lily Galvin and Ebony Clegg then both brought the biggest cheers of the afternoon for very different reasons. Galvin who had been busy all game scored her first try of the season with a blistering run down the middle before fly half cum centre Clegg fended off 2 tackles on the way to the try line.

In-between these two highlights, Perren and Boardman completed their hat tricks with finesse before Yates and Mills finished the afternoon’s entertainment in the deluge, with a try each.
