Forster pleased with squad dynamic

-

ROCHDALE Hornets have been in training for a month, and new coach Carl Forster is pleased to see his side have gelled well.

Having taken over from Alan Kilshaw for the 2019 campaign, Forster said: “The squad have pretty much clicked straight away off the field, and it is starting to show on it.

“The lads are really trying hard every session and working well with each other.”

Forster is pleased to see that hooker Scott Moore is linking in well with the squad and is happy that he has a player with Super League experience at his disposal.

“He can bring everything,” said Forster.

“His experience of playing at the highest level can only help the players around him

“He is already showing his qualities in training and is leading from the front with his talk. He’s a match winner and we’re hoping he can deliver that this season.”

Rochdale will once again take on Oldham for the Law Cup when they travel to the Vestacare Stadium on the 20th of January. Forster wants to focus on trying out his best combinations during the pre-season friendlies next month and will pick his best players from then.

“Friendlies are friendlies for a reason, it’s just about getting some game time in us and trying out some new combinations,” Forster said.

“We have a new squad and it’s going to take time to gel on the pitch.

“I’m hoping the friendlies will give me a big indication at what our best 17 is come matchday once.

“Results are obviously not important, but the performance is and every player will be trying to earn their spot.”
